Candidates must be willing to prepare and serve lunch to around 140 students per day. A healthy menu is already in place.
- Meal preparation: Prepare meals that are nutritionally balanced and meet USDA food guide guidelines. This may include following recipes, measuring and mixing ingredients, baking, grilling, steaming, and boiling.
- Food storage: Store food before and after serving according to local health unit guidelines.
- Cleaning: Maintain a clean kitchen workspace, including washing and sterilizing dishes, pots, and utensils, washing countertops and sinks, and cleaning the refrigerator, freezer, and cupboards.
- Sanitation: Comply with sanitation requirements.
- Food service: Deliver meals to classrooms and serve food hygienically.
- Food handling: Model appropriate food handling and eating etiquette for children.
- Inventory: Keep an accurate inventory of supplies and place orders as needed.
- Be willing to do grocery shopping at a nearby grocery store.
- Other tasks: Be responsible for sweeping and mopping and taking out trash.
